As one of Australia’s oldest girls’ schools, PLC Sydney has a history of female achievement built on its Christian principles. It is a school that combines 135 years of tradition with a spirit of innovation. Set on a campus in over four hectares of landscaped grounds, the school serves a large number of suburbs in the Sydney area, drawing in a variety of different cultural groups, with 46 different nationalities represented at the College.

PLC Sydney provides a comprehensive education for all girls, catering for their individual strengths and interests. We offer a rich academic program supported by a very strong cultural, sporting and co-curricular framework. Our Year 12 students have an excellent track record of achievement in the HSC and are regularly included on both the Top Achievers’ List and the Premier’s All-Round Achievers’ List.

NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires students to study a minimum of 12 units in the Preliminary Year (Year 11) and 10 units in their Higher School Certificate (HSC) Year (Year 12).  From 2025, Cambridge A-Levels will be offered as an alternative or supplement to the HSC in Years 11 and 12.

A range of subjects is offered at PLC Sydney including English (compulsory), Music, Drama, Arts and Design, Languages, Social Sciences, History, Science, Mathematics, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. We offer extension courses in Maths, English, History, Science, Music and Languages.

From the Principal

At PLC Sydney we seek to ‘grow’ the whole child. We are a school that puts our heart into enabling young women to flourish. Our programs cover not only high-level academic pursuits, but offer a significant range of co-curricular activities. The broad curriculum we offer allows all our girls to excel across academic, athletic, creative and spiritual pursuits. They are happy here. In turn, the students will be ready to take their place in an ever-changing world and make a positive contribution to society.
